If you haven't heard of Tim Ferris, you're simply not cool. At least in terms of Meta-learning (more about this later). He is the creator of The Four Hour series including "The Four Hour Workweek," "The Four Hour Body" and "The Four Hour Chef." He is the guru of how to learn as much as possible in the least amount of time, getting 80% results with 20% effort (Pareto's law).
He created the Slow Carb Diet. It's a 6 day protocol with no calorie restriction and a binge day, or a cheat day, or a pig out day, and it works.
I lost 12 lbs in 16 days on this protocol. Then another 8 lbs in the next two weeks and the weight stayed off. I'll give you more info in the coming weeks, but I'm doing it again in the form of "Lose 10 lbs in 14 days." Ferris isn't so concerned about the process as the results, in my opinion, and he uses supplements that I would not use, and is not gung ho about food quality. He still gets results and the basics are as follows:
In your 6 day diet segment you eat no white carbs (white flour, sugar, pasta, potatoes). Limit the meals you eat to avoid making errors (stick to what you know and know what works). Eat four meals a day, approximately 4 hours apart (do you notice a theme with the 4 hour thing?) Don't drink calories - sodas, sweet wines, beer, liquor. Don't eat fruit or drink fruit juice. And, the most attractive part of all, take one day a week to eat and drink whatever you want, so you stick to the other six days without going dietetically stir crazy.
There are some supplements too. But more about them in another post.
The guy's a genius, simply because it works. And he's likable, and that always helps.
